Kanie and Zach’s session at Dudgeon Lake was full of sunshine, laughter, and a whole lot of heart. These two have been together for eight years (yes—eight!), but their connection still feels fresh and fun. From the first click of the camera, it was easy to see the comfort and love they share.
Their story started back in history class, literally. They met in sixth grade, became best friends in eighth and finally started dating sophomore year of high school after Zach’s persistence paid off. Kanie is the more outgoing of the two, bubbly and bright, while Zach keeps things calm and steady. They balance each other perfectly.
We spent the evening walking through tall grass, laughing at their one-foot height difference (which became hilariously obvious in a few poses), and soaking in golden hour light. Even though it was their first time being photographed professionally, you’d never know it. They were naturals, holding hands, sharing little glances, and giggling through every prompt.
Kanie mentioned she was nervous beforehand, but you’d never know that either. She and Zach leaned into each moment, and by the end, we were all laughing like old friends. Their two dogs stayed home this time, but I’m sure they would’ve added even more chaos and charm to the evening!
One of the sweetest parts of their story? Their desire to have photos they can look back on. Growing up without many family pictures, they’re now building a legacy of memories for their future family to cherish and that’s something really special.
